Not having ever heard of a BarCamp before, I was skeptical when Morriss Partee from EverythingCU.com sent me an invitation for this past Saturday. It was described as an "un-conference" with no formal agenda, with the idea being that if you get enough smart, interesting people together in a room under a theme (in this case financial services), the conversation will evolve and leave everyone knowing more than before they came. That certainly happened.
Other attendees beat me to it and have already presented great summaries of the day (see Ron Shevlin, Morriss Partee, Andy LaFlamme, and Ginny Brady). I was glad to be included, and now that I know what to expect, for those of you in New England, don't be surprised if you get an invitation from me to attend next year.

Hi Charlie!
Thank YOU for coming and contributing your insights and perspecitve!
It's interesting that these un-conferences seem to be more popular in other parts of the word, including the left coast (California is a different country, right?) Very glad that you enjoyed the unconference format. It is pretty exciting. I loved our intimate gathering and look forward to doing it again. For you and your readers, there is also BarCampMoney NYC, which is nearly booked to capacity (75) for this Saturday April 12, 2008. There will be even more cool chaos with that many people attending. Looking forward to that one also. We'll have to do New England again next year.
Take care,
Morriss
Hi Charlie, I enjoyed meeting you. I agree with you - I was a little apprehensive about the lack of structure but am now convinced that, with the right mix of people, the BarCamp format is great.
Hey, it was great to meet you (I know this has been up on your blog for awhile, figured I'd drop a comment though!). I'd like to thank you for giving me some insight during my session. It was much appreciated. Really looking forward to next year.
P.S. Andera is a great company, keep up the good work!
Hi Charlie,
