Today's System Issue

We have been battling with some system issues recently which have been caused by an unexpected spike in volume, described in my last post. Frankly, our capacity planning did not anticipate such rapid growth in transaction volumes. The result has been frustrating slowness recently, especially at peak times, and in the case of today, some downtime.

We know this is unacceptable and are taking strong action to address it. We had already planned significant investments and upgrades to our infrastructure over the course of 2009 - but as a result of these recent issues, we have accelerated all of those upgrades to take place over the next three months, with measurable improvement materializing much sooner. This reprioritization may cause some short term tradeoffs with our product roadmap or support turnarounds, but ultimately we believe this is the right decision.

Keith Roberts, our VP of Operations, will be providing a more detailed update on our plans to customers shortly via email. Additionally, you're welcome to contact him or me directly with questions or concerns.
